Approved tools and settings are configured, then explained so you know what is protected, what is not and what must be checked in future.
Starting prices

- from £95
Storage devices, subscriptions and third-party services are additional. Ongoing subscription charges are paid directly by the customer where possible. Larger data sets, multiple devices or complex business requirements may need a separate quotation.
Limitations
There is no guarantee against data loss, fraud or compromise, and this is not a monitored cybersecurity service, security operations centre or managed IT contract. Passwords, encryption and account-provider identity checks are never bypassed.
Account recovery remains subject to the provider's rules and your ability to prove lawful ownership. Backup success depends on continued storage capacity, connectivity, subscriptions and your own maintenance, and formal compliance, regulated-business security or incident-response work needs specialist advice.
FAQs
Is cloud storage the same as a backup?
Not necessarily. Cloud storage that automatically syncs deletions or changes can still leave you without a real backup. The setup reviews this properly rather than assuming a cloud folder is enough.
Should I use an external drive, cloud backup or both?
Both, where practical, gives the best protection against different types of failure. A proportionate approach is recommended based on your files, devices and budget.
Can you help set up multi-factor authentication?
Yes, on suitable accounts, along with guidance on password managers and reviewing your recovery details.
Can you recover an account if I have forgotten the password?
This depends on the account provider's own recovery rules and your ability to prove lawful ownership. Uptime York does not bypass provider security.
Does this service include antivirus or full cybersecurity protection?
No. This service covers practical backup and account protection, not a monitored cybersecurity service or guaranteed prevention of compromise.
Will the backup need ongoing maintenance?
Yes. Backups depend on continued storage capacity, active subscriptions and periodic checking, and the handover explains exactly what you need to keep an eye on.
